FAQ
Relay Guide
Why can't you touch the terminals or connected parts of a relay when it is energized?
Touching the relay terminals when powered on may cause electric shock, short circuit or equipment damage. When installing, maintaining or troubleshooting, be sure to cut off the power supply to ensure safe operation. If you need technical support, please contact Hangwang Electrical Service Center.
What are the risks of exceeding the rated load current of the relay?
Overloading can lead to reduced insulation performance, contact adhesion, poor contact, and even burnout or fire of the relay. Please strictly abide by the rated load parameters. It is recommended that the actual load should not exceed 60%-70% of the rated value to improve reliability.
How do the current limits differ for different load types (e.g. motors, light bulbs)?
- Resistive load: The nominal rated current can be used.
- Inductive load (such as motor): No more than 20% of the rated current.
- Lamp load: No more than 10%.
- Capacitive load: No more than 5%.
- Note: The instantaneous surge current of inductive loads, motors, etc. may be as high as 3-5 times the steady-state current, so sufficient margin must be reserved.
What are the contact forms of relays? How to choose?
- Conversion type (Z/C): Switches the circuit state after power is turned on (one open and one closed).
- Normally open type (H/A): Opens when the power is off and closes when the power is on.
- Normally closed type (D/B): Closes when the power is off and opens when the power is on.
Can the relay be used in humid or flammable and explosive environments?
Places where there is water, steam, melting ice or dripping water.
Inflammable and explosive gas environments.
Such scenarios may cause short circuits, electric shocks or explosion risks. If you need special environment adaptation solutions, please contact technical support.
What problems can be caused by incorrect coil wiring? How can they be avoided?
The coil has polarity markings (positive and negative). Reverse connection will cause the relay to fail to operate, overheat or even burn out. Be sure to follow the wiring diagram and confirm the polarity before powering on.
Why can't I apply more than the maximum switching voltage for a long time?
Exceeding the rated voltage of the coil will cause the coil to overheat, insulation aging, shortened life or even direct damage. Please strictly follow the voltage range in the specification (for example, a DC24V relay cannot be connected to 30V).
What should I do when a relay fails?
- Cut off the power immediately to avoid secondary damage.
- Check whether the load is overloaded, whether the wiring is correct, and whether the environment is compliant.
- Do not disassemble the relay by yourself, as the internal components are delicate and there is a high risk of being charged.
